As the new dawn arises
We let go things of the past
And look forward to the future
Yet we are told to live in the present
Savor the lingering moments of life
Yet as we think of the year bygone
You’ll recall various moments
of anguish, despair, joy, mirth
Life is a great teacher
Timeless and imparting great virtues
As we go through the motions
We learn new things
As we also unlearn many things
Of what’s required
Of what’s to be discarded
To carry on with this magnificent journey
Called life
Let’s celebrate this moment
As we breathe
And praise the Lord (atheists pardon me)
For this beautiful life
A blessed family
Wonderful set of friends, forever like you
I’ll always remember
And cherish the lovely times
We all had together
That’s what friends are for
Farther or Near
It’s the heart that beats
When there is a need
Is but the truest
