Bruce Lee

Founder of Jeet Kune Do

Think of Kung Fu, Bruce Lee comes to mind…everyone else is secondary…

He is the ultimate action star, especially for the kids of my generation and will remain so forever etched in our memories. He is the rock star of martial arts. Lightning fast, insanely furious and handsome yet manly, he beats the pulp out of the villains. What we liked and still like about him was the fact that he was completely human, devoid of all the superhero powers and has fragilities like any of us. Hand to Hand combat remains the most stimulating and exhilarating fights to watch.  And he was the master of it all inspiring many followers in the subsequent decades. Despite the vulnerability, he still fights against the odds coming out victorious against perpetrators of malevolence and viciousness. We all fall in love with such kinds of Heroes who are nothing short of demigods to other mere mortals.

Fact is that, the skills exhibited are developed through years of focus, physical practice, tough grind, mental resolve and dedication. And how fast, flexible, adroit in your body movements, if you concentrate with a single minded perseverance. He literally transports you into his world when he beats the hell out of the scoundrels. You envisage yourself fighting the rogues whatever be your form and shape. The way he uses his Nunchaku (speed and execution is just unbelievable) and his flying kick remain etched in your eyes. Enter the dragon, remains my personal favourite until to date. It is ironical that he died a month before I was born, yet remains my supreme hero when it comes to Kung Fu Fighting.
