Trust is extremely hard to build and to sustain it is even harder. If you break it even once, it’s almost impossible to regain trust. It’s like how you construct a building, brick by brick with all the accompaniments. It takes time, effort and sincerity in ensuring that you use the right and qualitative materials to get that perfect building. If you mix up even one iota of inferior quality item, it will reflect somewhere, sometime and the building will lose its sheen and cracks will appear. Likewise, you also lose trust. Once lost, it is forever lost. It takes a miracle to get it back, nothing less…. just as much as it is hard to build trust, it is even harder to preserve it as it requires continuous upkeep and maintenance. Whether it is in personal life or official life or in a social set up or anywhere else, trust is foundational principle to be developed consciously to have a healthy relationship with the other person. It is mutual and not a one-way traffic. It goes both ways. It is reflected in your speech, behavior, actions and fundamentally in your underlying thoughts. It is a part and parcel of your life embedded within yourself. Ensure that you cultivate this like any other good habit before you preach unto others, especially your children. They need to understand the value of trust completely and comprehensively. As a parent you need to earn their trust and likewise, they need to earn their parents’ trust. The journey of building trust begins there….at home. And should continue all throughout one’s life. It’s like breathing air…. you just cannot live without it.
