What does Independence or Freedom mean to the common man.

Maybe I could start at home to understand the true meaning of freedom and what it means to everyone at home.

For Me at this stage in my life, I seek financial freedom to secure the livelihood and aspirations of my family.

For my Wife, it is freedom from all of us at home….as she is drained and exasperated managing the family on a day to day basis

For my Son, it is freedom from the stringent tenets of school education that he has to undergo

For my Dad, he would be able to cherish his dream of publishing his book on Astrology independently

Freedom, in brief, means different things to different people depending upon their age, financial wellbeing, social acceptance in the form of equality, security from all the dangers of life, a healthy life without any illnesses, a peaceful life without any fights within the home or outside of it, these days a lot of people also worry about mental wellness, for some they just need to be heard or listened to and understood from their perspective, for most they need to be loved and cared for in the real world and not liked through their social media posts and for some people it is just food on the plate to quell their hunger.

Before we attained Independence from the British, the freedom fighters fought for the rights to run our nation autonomously as a sovereign state. Millions of people died in the process sacrificing their lives for a nonpartisan and self sufficient state. We are obliged to pay our homage and respects to these people who laid their lives in order for us to breath the air without any restraints or suffocation.

It is therefore important for us to remember the supreme renunciations of our freedom fighters and common people who suffered immensely under Mughals and British rule. These facts have to be memorialized and etched in every single human being that lives and breathes today. We need to commemorate their paramount will to fight until their last breath so that you can breath freely today.

We take these privileges’ as a matter of right to speak, to be heard, to express ourselves and do whatever we want (so long as it is not illegal in the eyes of the law). This would not be possible had it not been for the people who laid their lives. We need to constantly reminisce and enshrine them to lead a unified, dignified and corrupt free life.

Let us understand the significance of our Flag and what each color and chakra represents

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_India

The philosopher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who later became India’s first Vice President and second President, clarified the adopted flag and described its significance as follows:

Bhagwa or the Saffron denotes renunciation or disinterestedness. Our leaders must be indifferent to material gains and dedicate themselves to their work.

The white in the centre is light, the path of truth to guide our conduct.

The green shows our relation to (the) soil, our relation to the plant life here, on which all other life depends.

The “Ashoka Chakra” in the centre of the white is the wheel of the law of dharma. Truth or satya, dharma or virtue ought to be the controlling principle of those who work under this flag. Again, the wheel denotes motion. There is death in stagnation. There is life in movement. India should no more resist change, it must move and go forward. The wheel represents the dynamism of a peaceful change.

The flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya

Colours of the Flag

In the national flag of India the top band is of Saffron colour, indicating the strength and courage of the country. The white middle band indicates peace and truth with Dharma Chakra. The last band is green in color shows the fertility, growth and auspiciousness of the land.

The Chakra

This Dharma Chakra depicted the “wheel of the law” in the Sarnath Lion Capital made by the 3rd-century BC Mauryan Emperor Ashoka. The chakra intends to show that there is life in movement and death in stagnation.
