In the initial months of widespread COVID infection, it was the frontline Doctors, Nurses and other Hospital staff who really placed their lives at risk to save countless number of patients falling sick by the day and night to this unknown, hazardous virus that laid siege to doors of human kind. It was lethal once infected and no one across the world knew how to treat virus. To expose yourself to this menacing virus is nothing short of putting your life at peril. Yet these frontline warriors, that included Policemen who kept tight vigil across the country, to curb unwarranted movement of people, maintain law and order and peace in times of grave uncertainty roaming the streets is what you would call as heroism.
In addition there were agents of delivery who, despite the precarious situation, jeopardizing their lives, shipped essentials on a daily basis so that we could sit inside the comfort of our homes and lead a safe life. These included vegetable vendors, ecommerce staff, and medical stores, nearby provision stores, milkmen, security and housekeeping staff who ventured out in such treacherous conditions to meet the demands of the nation that was locked inside the walls of the home.
All these people are the true agents of valor. It is their fearlessness that held the nation together in unity and in a controlled measure. But for their intrepidness, the country could have turned into an absolute anarchy. Along with the Soldiers, who guard our borders even in this terrible situation, giving up their lives to the treacherous and nefarious activities of our neighbors, these COVID warriors deserve gallantry awards and more so deep gratitude, love and care from the depths of our heart. My heart goes out with sincere prayers to those who laid their lives, fighting this fatal battle against the unknown virus that wreaked havoc on humankind. A life lost, is a life lost. It cannot be measured in terms of wealth, position, power or by any other stature. How will their families cope with this immeasurable loss, especially in these exasperating situations which is interminable at the moment?
We need to be charitable and help whomsoever we can in this difficult financial, economic situation that has turned many a common lives upside down. We need to stay united, disciplined and follow the rules laid out by the Government that is trying its best to serve the people. We do not have a choice in this matter…unless we all come together in one voice and say let us combine all our energies in our fight against this evil unknown menace that is threatening us like no other hazard in recent times.
Stay Safe but Fight Together…as ONE… as this unknown virus threatens us all in equal measure without compunction.
