Appreciation

As a normal human being, I would acknowledge and appreciate the efforts put it by my team members in office and it was natural for me to expect the same from my bosses. Since young I understood that a pat in the back, especially in a timely manner, works miracles with your subordinates. This is true of both the work place and the home as well. And it holds true for the child as well as the adult, no matter the age.

Everyone needs a word of appreciation and it rejuvenates them and brings a spark into their otherwise sordid lives. It builds your self esteem and makes you feel worthy enough to sustain, survive and succeed in whatever you pursue. It brings out the best in you. It could be in any form, kind words, monetary rewards, a letter of appreciation or an email message stating the task accomplished and how you did it, as an individual or as a team player or in the form of a promotion in an organization.

The gesture could be tangible or intangible, but it is the true intent that matters most to the individual. Has it been done genuinely, if yes, then it serves to achieve what it is meant for. The feel good factor invariably catches on like wild fire and everyone wants to participate and have a piece of the cake. That’s the power of saying unequivocally; thanks you did a great job. You deserve it, keep it up. It brings a smile to your face, cheers you up, lifts your spirits and makes you motivated to do even better.

We are not machines but humans with emotions that seek approval and acceptance at every stage in our life. This is what primarily drives us as we strive harder to be the best in whatever we do, that we would be recognized and respected for our achievements, contributions in our workplace, home, in general our day to day life. If we would not be admired and venerated we would be absolute morons in our life.

We all need to be adored, cherished and embellished with honors and awards for the positive difference we attain in our lives. That’s why it is so important to appreciate. It’s a way to gratify the soul by reiterating that you are central to this organization or home and that your presence and efforts are so much needed not only for its sustenance and well being but for it to scale greater peaks.
