His Mom had a major concern sending him to DPS as it was nearly 60 kms from Salmiya tucked in the middle of the desert near the oil refineries. Even though, it would take only one hour in Kuwait to reach the school, it was quite a distance. Secondly, it would be scorching hot in summer and the school transport bus even though it was air conditioned, given the fact that it gets really hot, it would take time to cool initially. Third, this boy is the finickiest eater in the world. Just to feed him drains her energy completely. He has to leave home by 6.30 AM as the school starts by 8 AM. Once he goes to school, he will return only by 12 noon or so….though she would pack snacks and some food for him, she was not sure if he would eat on his own. All the typical Mom’s worries surfaced in her…..and lastly, hope he would be able to adjust with other kids, weather the weather, distance, school teachers and a completely different atmosphere from that of the playschool where personal attention and care was available in abundance. On the normal days from Sunday to Wednesday, it’s white shirt and green trousers. On Thursday, it’s white cotton tee and green sweat pants. He was looking uber cool in those outfits…wait until you get to see him in the winter outfit with a coat. It was really spell binding indeed.

As is with the kids, they adjust fast to the situation on hand. They adapt much more quickly than adults. They make new friends as it is imperative for their survival. They do not have any preconceived notions. They also enjoy new environment and actually thrive and embrace it easily, as duck takes to water. By nature, kids are experimental and act as well as react to the situation as it warrants. It is the adults who actually panic when they are placed somewhere out of context. They find it difficult to adjust, adapt and accommodate. Moral…learn to let go…and go with the flow…
