Movie, Work and Shopping

There could be a question as to what is the point of writing about a weekend experience that seems to be like a matter of routine and what is so unique about this as a reader. Valid, question…..However, at this stage of life, when I look back, I could see that we memorialized and recorded every event, whether trivial or major as a significant stage of development in our life, not just Anirud. Every subtle dainty facial expressions, exquisite emotions, delicate touches, uncanny physical motion, action and reactions looks sublime to me. When I see them after a decade it transports me to a paradisical world that actually existed in earth at that time-frame. Our world seemed empyrean at this point in time. Anirud was our sun and we as superlunary planets revolved around him. It was indeed a celestial life….let’s get back to reality and understand what transpired in reality as mere mortals….

Friday weekend, it was meant to be a long day as our friend Ram Kumar had booked night show for Thillalangadi, a new tamil movie which just got released. Jeyam Ravi and Tamannah starred in this movie. As the movie was to start at 10 PM in Ajiyal complex, Fahaheel, we planned to leave our house by 9 PM. Balu Kalpana told us that they would come in my car itself.

After lunch in the morning, we left to city centre to buy our regular groceries. Balu and family joined us there. In between Anirud found a plastic tray with wheels, which he used as a cart wheel to play around. He thoroughly enjoyed with it for some time. Then we came down for billing and then I wanted to check out if shoes were on sale. I went and bought for myself a pair of brown shoes which I was eyeing for quite some time. Thereafter, we bid goodbye to Balu and family and left to our home to catch some sleep.

Yes, we had good sleep from 2.30 PM until 5.30 PM. Anirud had to be woken up at 6.00 PM.  Once his marathon food session was over, she got him ready and he played with his bicycle for a change. He wore a black robot t shirt on a blue jean. Vidya wore a bossini violet striped tee on a blue jean. We then went through our mandatory photo shoot before leaving our home. We left at 9.00 PM and on the way picked up Balu and family. Once we reached there by 9.30, we had time to spend at future kids so that the kids (Anirud and Ritika) can actually have some fun out there. He rode a Ferrari sports car and a sports bike at the future kids. We had a mini 4SA’s gathering out there as YV, Raghu, Chandru, Thiagu mama and Lalitha also came for the movie.

It was total time pass movie, no brainer, just tickler of funny bones and the end was a little bit stretched. But it was not boring either. Anirud watched the movie for an hour and then fell asleep. Perhaps, he got bored since there were not much of action scenes unlike Singam which he had enjoyed thoroughly and was glued to the movie. The movie was over by around 1.30 AM and by the time we reached home, it was almost 2.00 AM. And the next day, I had to go to office as well.

Another weekend, Saturday, but on this day I had to go to office. My boss had asked me to come to office to review the financials as we had a quarterly controller’s review of balance sheet with the Corporate Controller and CFO on Tuesday. Since he was awfully busy on so many other things, he wanted to review the nos. in peace rather it was his passion to work on weekends and after office hours and also asks his subordinates to be in office. He asked me to come by 11 AM and I forced him to come by 10 AM since I wanted to leave home for lunch. So I got up early and left to office by 9 AM. As usual the review took some time and by the time I left from office it was almost 1 PM.

Balu Kalpana had invited us to their home for lunch. So I went home, picked up Vidya and Anirud and left to Balu Kalpana’s place. Since we were late, they had their lunch before we arrived there. We had our lunch and spent some time chatting away. By 3 PM we decided that we would go to Avenues mall.

So we came back home to change our attire. Anirud as usual wore a new pair of dress. The T shirt had the caption “I make my Mummy smile”. Yes, he does and also makes her cry whenever he does not have his food. That’s his power of negotiation at this young age with the adults. Once he was ready, he took the bathroom stickers which we had bought for him and started talking in his own language. He made a big fuss to show his face as I wanted to take his photographs. Then his mom got ready and she wore a white Tee on a black jean. Now when I photograph Vidya, this guy also would come and stand beside her. Now he wants to be the cynosure of our eyes and is quite possessive of his mom as well. Boys are like that and he is no exception and his mom is fiercely possessive of him. The two beautiful, picturesque things in my life posed to my demands with glee. With the photography session over, we left to pick up Balu and his family.

After that we left to the mall. It was quite hot as summer in Kuwait was at its peak. We did a lot of window shopping in various shops and in BHS this guy started running up and down on the ….after that we went to Macdonald’s. Balu and his father ate a burger while we ate finger chips. There was a huge fish tank beside the food zone. I was watching the myriad fishes in awe while the kids went for a diaper change. And then they also enjoyed watching the beautiful fishes zipping around. We left the mall by around 7 PM.

We came back home, fed Anirud and then with Balu Kalpana went to Amman chat restaurant for grabbing some snacks to complete the dinner plan. As we were leaving, I saw my office colleagues having food outside. I introduced Vidya and Anirud to them, bid goodbye, dropped Balu Kalpana and came back home for a good night sleep. It was a long hard day for me and I was just dog tired waiting to crash land in the bed beside my lovely angels dreaming of a elysian life.
