It is actually a Hospital but inside you feel like you are in a 7 star Hotel…that’s what it feels like and built as well…

We take him to the best of the private hospital in Kuwait – Royale Hyatt. True to it’s name it looks imposing and like a 7 star hotel. You would not find it like a typical hospital and there is no smell of that hospital which we are used to always. They do, however, charge a fortune for each visit. 20 KD for each consultation. Multiply that by 160 rupees at that time (it went up to 200+ subsequently). They have also got a children’s play area which is beautifully decorated and you can see Ani playing merrily with his mother. Photos taken on 3rd Apr 2010.
How much does a typical doctor charges in India…say somewhere between 100 to 500 rupees. However, you go to a clinic which is actually one small room of maximum 10×10 converted into a Doctor’s room separated by a partition for patients waiting room. There will be a bench or some chairs. No separate play area or wash room facilities. In some high end clinics perhaps the size could go up to twice the size mentioned above and charges likewise could also be double or treble depending upon the area, type of service, facilities and experience and popularity of the Doctor. We, in general, do not to go Hospital for recurring issues like cold and fever. However, in Kuwait, there are no private clinics and Doctors have to work in either Government or Private Hospitals. Kuwait Government Hospitals offer free services as typically we end up paying medical insurance. However, we do not go to Government hospitals due to variety of reasons and opt for Private known (referred by others) doctors as it’s child related and we don’t want to take any risk as such. And you don’t get over the counter medicines (except for common ailments) in any of the medical shops unless you show the Doctor’s prescription. It’s mandatory and they take a copy before they issue the medicines. There are pros and cons in every situation and also you sometimes get those add on benefits for the fortune you pay…especially when the kids are in their initial years…
