Hairdressing Anirud

Ani’s stylish “mushroom stepcut” photos in a lebanese saloon at Salmiya, Kuwait.

In the morning, we took him to the saloon for a haircut. You don’t call it barber shop anymore. It’s inappropriate and perhaps denigrating to say so. It’s a fashionable saloon and after the hair cut, they apply gel, spike the hair and use coloring spray to look stylish and mod. They even have a TV that plays various different channels to keep the visitors engaged. If you want cartoons for Children….bingo! there it comes. How enticing. While I don’t do this even at my age, kiddo is getting used to such chic aspects of life even at such young age when he cannot even realize what’s happening to him. When he grows up, he sure would be more demanding and decide where to go and what to do instead of letting his mom choose these things for him. That would be an interesting tussle to watch between Mom and Son or would he be an obedient son. Only time would tell what the outcome would be and I would be waiting to see that in action.

These guys sure know how to keep the crying kids motivated and charmed by including all items that would keep the kids fascinated. Ani was fastened to the car and the guy started cutting his hair…initially he started crying but later on was glued to the car and other exciting stuff in the saloon…he was not willing to come out of the car after the guy spiked his hair since he has one great liking for driving cars….is this guy gonna be one great racer… well these guys don’t give you all these for free of cost, they charge you a pricey sum…2.5 KD for the kids…multiply that by 160 rupees….it’s 400 rupees for the kid…and it’s over in 5-10 minutes…and I spend 1KD in a normal Indian saloon…these guys do have for the guys as well…and when I checked out the price….it’s 4KD for a normal cut….well for a guy like me who is losing hair by the day that’s really too much…and I said forget it…let my son enjoy this as long as he wants to…Mama’s wish…and I have to dearly obey…do I have a choice!!!???

It was another weekly routine of having Friday pooja at one of the 4sa member’s house. On this day it was followed by one dish serving as the leading ladies had to prepare one item for night dinner. Vidya was exempted this time as kiddo was not doing well so she was given some respite from this task.

Kiddo boy got himself ready in a maroon pajama and lady love in an off white salwar with a dash of embroidery. She did not look in her charming best perhaps due to regular fight outs with the little one.

We went to the pooja as per schedule at 6.00 PM, some of them were there and some came later. Once the pooja got over, people gorged on the sumptuous food and started leaving early to catch up for the weekend nap.
