Visit to Wafra KNPC winter camp

Converting desert into an entertainment zone. When you think of what you can do in a deserted place, think opportunity for industrialization, recreation, cultivation and even habitation. With the advancement in technology humans have truly transformed various landscapes to suit their needs and converted it into various fortuitous means in which it could be best utilized. You need money for everything, fortunately, they have oil or the black gold. So use the proceeds from sale of oil effectively to procure locally or import from outside or manufacture where possible to meet the numerous needs of the people. Grow, develop and nourish the nation with the help of mother earth without plundering her resources. Use the prodigious wealth judiciously not outrageously so that we can live a harmonious life. Middle east has prospered tremendously with the discovery of oil. To be fair, a lot of Asians have also thrived by working there due to the huge and flourishing demand for people resources to support their burgeoning need for industrial advancement in quick time.

It was a surprise unscheduled visit. In the morning, we had gone for Anirud’s hair cut. After the hair cut, the guy had spiked his hair and also applied coloring gel. Anirud looked, stylish and cool with his new hairdo. Or do I have to say, like a ruffian in the making. Anyways, as kids these are privileged and enjoy these things on account of affordability and where we are today. Something he does not understand or remember but he would cherish when he grows up and looks back on his growing days.

Thereafter we got a call from Ramakumar asking us if we were interested in joining and going to this camp. We are always game to going out and we said yes. After lunch, the mini caravan of YV, Ramakumar and us left to this place. Actually only KNPC staffs were allowed to enter this as it is meant for them. Since Venkat works for KNPC and he was already there since morning, he had booked a tent for himself and one of his friends. He directed us on how to come there and we arrived there accordingly without any issue. It was another long drive but an enjoyable one though.

It was a fenced area with all tents by the corners, toilet facilities, gaming area and vast area of land to play your own games. It was really beautiful and we had a good time there. Some of us played cricket, while others played volley ball and then Vidya took Ani for some kid’s rides and later we had hot tea as it was a cold winter evening. I took a picture of the sunset and then we left from there to our abode. We really enjoyed this as it was neatly maintained and well arranged with heaters as well in the tents. The best part was the toilet facilities which were impeccable with hot water facilities. I was really stunned and surprised to note that the government really spends quite a sum on such welfare activities for their countrymen. Indirectly in the process, as expat’s we are also benefited in the process.
