It’s a usual practice for us to go to the Wafra farms during the EID holidays with our group. Winter had set in by then and it was cold during that time. Also strangely, it was also raining. It’s an unusual sight to behold, yet to enjoy as we are in a desert country. There is no concept of monsoon rains or depressions that would pass through the country at a given point in time. So, if it rains, make the most of it and enjoy these pleasant days.
As the farm house is almost 100 kms away from our house, we usually start early in the day. We started to assemble by 7.30 AM at YV’s house. But as some people were late, we started our caravan by 8.00 AM. Anirud was clothed with sweaters, mufflers to ensure that he does not get affected by this cold and rain. It was pouring quite heavily and boy it was difficult to see and drive fast. We took a stopover at Rama Venkat’s place in Fahaheel for our morning breakfast. Thereafter we resumed our journey to the farm house.
I am glad to have shot a few photos with cloudy and overcast skies in Kuwait. A rarity in these circumstances, yet now I have the proof to amplify that we do have rains in Kuwait. In between, we stopped and waited for some other family to join us. There we saw some dare devil stunts by local guys in their cars swerving and swirling.
The farmhouse was full of sludge through which we waded and parked in front of our designated house. There was a pond in front of our house and we could see some ducks swimming around. I took Ani for a walk to show him the ducks in the pond. Thereafter YV and company collected wood to make fire. When YV poured petrol from the bottle, the fire caught up all the way up and he threw the bottle away. Luckily, there was a tent nearby and the fire did not spread. It was scary for a moment. All cars were also parked right next to it. Lucky escape…we played some indoor games, chatted for a while and by evening left for home. Before we started we went to the nearby farms to buy some fresh vegetables and also visited a farm house to know how these guys do the farming and cultivation of cucumbers, tomatoes etc.
